She started photographing the musicians who played there, and soon went to work as chief photographer for Punk magazine, which gave the movement its name. She is one of the main photographers to visually chronicle the early punk rock scene, from 1975 through the 80s. With significant experience behind her, Beth became part of the team at television networks such as CNN, NBC, and ESPN. Beth was an instrumental force in the formation of “Focus on New York,” a weekly television series where she acts as producer and technical director. Beth also produced “The 50-50 Comedy Network,” “Pure Rock TV,” and “MSN Musician Network.” As an Adjunct, Beth taught Producing for Cable TV for NYU’s School of Film, Television, and Broadcasting. Beth took the footage she shot socially and decided to make it useful through the access of Public Television. While the music related TV shows at the time played mostly music videos made by record companies, Beth made her show informative by interviewing people who made significant contributions to the music scene but were not being featured on main stream TV. The goal was to make artists better business people by learning through the people who actually made the scene happen. She created and still produces of F# Sharp TV, an informational talk show about the music business. F# Sharp TV has received numerous national awards as the “Best Informational Talk show,” that has yielded several rock legend interviews. She is also marketing and distributing this show overseas as well as broadcasting it on the web. Beth’s footage became historical over time capturing an era. Throughout her career, Beth excelled at gaining expertise in the technical aspects of media. The original Lasch Media studio included an interformat edit suite, which Beth designed, engineered and installed, and has evolved to programming content for the Internet, International Television distribution, Video on Demand and mobile devices. Beth is further designing a platform featuring historical music and counterculture, recorded from the Underground, called Downtown Archives. Downtown Archives includes other videographers footage who have captured historical moments, like the Oral Histories documented by the late great Giorgio Gomelsky and Wayne Sawyer (aka: Joey Zero) among others. Downtown Archives is a repository of vetted video honoring great footage that main stream corporations never got and don’t even know exist. True, authentic, documented culture spanning 1960’s- today. When asked what the motto for her business was Beth Lasch, said, “Do not go where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Contact: Fsharptv@gmail.com Tickets are only $5 and support the Museum and Arts programming at Coney Island USA! Click here to purchase!
